Cloud Technology Service Level Agreement

Service level agreements have become increasingly important as companies move their systems, applications and data around the cloud. A cloud ALS ensures that cloud providers meet certain business-level requirements and provide customers with a clearly defined set of delivery components. Ideally, ALS should be aligned with the technological or commercial objectives of the commitment. The wrong direction can have a negative impact on the pricing of deals, the quality of the service delivery and the customer experience. AlS should have two components: services and management. The main point is to create a new level for the grid, cloud or SOA middleware, capable of creating a trading mechanism between service providers and consumers. For example, the EU-funded Framework SLA@SOI 7 research project[12]explores aspects of multi-level, multi-supplier slas within service-based infrastructure and cloud computing, while another EU-funded project, VISION Cloud[13], has delivered results in terms of content-based ALS. In the event of a disaster, your cloud provider should have a plan to avoid the total loss of your data. Cloud providers should have a section of ALS that details their recovery and backup solutions. Depending on the provider, you can provide automatic backups and snapshots of your data.

If the user needs to set up backup and restoration systems, alS should set it. It may not explicitly specify how to activate them, but you should be aware whether you should activate it or not. ALS is a contract that describes the responsibilities that the supplier and the customer accept. Your cloud provider must inform you of what you are responsible for when you enter into the contract. It could be his own section or be scattered throughout the agreement, but he has to tell you what is expected of you. Make sure you whisper about the entire ALS to find out what your provider is managing as a customer and what you need to do. The next step is to assess the criticality of the cloud service and associated data when a set of criteria is defined. Almost all computer systems can be made extremely reliable, but the costs can be too high. Not all systems need the same reliability as NASA for space shuttles, and few have been able to pay the costs. Most service providers provide statistics, often through an online portal.

There, customers can check whether ALS is being met and whether they are entitled to service credits or other penalties under ALS. Most ALSs are traded to meet customer requirements at the time of signing, but many companies change dramatically in size over time. A strong cloud service agreement describes the intervals for verifying a contract to meet the changing requirements of an organization. The ALS should contain not only a description of the services to be provided and their expected levels of service, but also metrics to measure the services, obligations and responsibilities of each party, corrective measures or penalties in the event of a breach, and a protocol for adding and removing measures.
